Biography of Charles Sheehan
Consul General of Ireland, Chicago

In 1981 Charles Sheehan joined the Irish Diplomatic Service and served in a wide range of positions within the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin, including Political, Protocol, Development Cooperation, Anglo-Irish, and Economic Divisions.

He served as a Second Secretary of the Embassy, Copenhagen and later served as Vice-Consul of New York; Deputy Head of Protocol, Dublin and then as the Deputy Head of Mission, Rome. He also served on the International Security Policy, Political Division-Department of Foreign Affairs and was the Acting Deputy Head of Legal Division, which lead him to his current position of Consul General of Ireland-Chicago.
